Topping up (tenants)

Landlords don't need to top up — rent and other payments arrive in your wallet automatically.

  1. Tap + Top Up on your dashboardEnter the amount (minimum ₦100), or tap your rent amount to fill it in.
  2. Pay with our payment partnerYou're taken to a secure checkout to pay by card or bank transfer.
  3. Money lands in your walletAs soon as the payment is confirmed, you're returned to HouzRent and your balance updates.
ℹ️
If you paid but your balance hasn't changed after a few minutes, don't pay again. Email support with the payment reference from your bank or card statement.

Paying from your wallet

Rent, Rent Pot contributions, rent for a new landlord, and repair charges you approve are all paid straight from your wallet balance. If there isn't enough, HouzRent tells you how much more you need and offers a top-up.

Withdrawing to your bank

  1. Tap WithdrawIt appears next to your balance whenever you have money in your wallet.
  2. Enter the amountMinimum ₦100. Withdraw all fills in your whole balance.
  3. Find your bankStart typing its name — short names like GTB, UBA, FCMB and fintechs like Opay, Kuda and Moniepoint work too.
  4. Enter your 10-digit account numberWe check it with your bank and show the account holder's name. Make sure it's right before you continue.
  5. ConfirmThe money leaves your wallet and is sent to your bank.
🛡️
Your wallet is debited before the transfer is sent, so tapping twice or having HouzRent open in two tabs can never pay out more than you have.

Tenants: your own account only

To protect tenants' money, tenant withdrawals can only go to a bank account in your own name — the name you verified with your NIN. The bank's account name must include your first and last name; order and middle names don't matter.

If the account belongs to someone else, you'll see "You can only withdraw to an account in your own name" and the withdrawal won't go through. Landlords can withdraw to any verified account, such as a business account.

When a withdrawal is pending

Most withdrawals are sent straight away. Occasionally our payment partner can't complete a transfer instantly — in that case your withdrawal is marked pending and our team pays it out manually, usually within one business day. The money has already left your wallet, so there's nothing more you need to do.

Wallet activity

The Payments tab lists every credit and debit — top-ups, rent, deposits, refunds, Rent Pot, repair charges and withdrawals — with a reference. Quote that reference if you ever contact support about a payment.
