Guide for artisans

For plumbers, electricians, carpenters and every artisan who fixes homes. Landlords on HouzRent send you jobs by text — here's how to take them on and build your reputation.

Your first job text

When a landlord sends you a job, you get a text like: "HouzRent: new plumbing job from Tunde. Details: https://houzrent.app/artisan/job/…"

The link shows what the job is, roughly where, how urgent it is and any preferred visit date. The exact address, the tenant's phone number and photos are only shared once you accept.

Can't take it? Tap Can't take this job? on the page and let the landlord know — no account needed.

Creating your account

  1. Tap "Accept this job"We text a 6-digit code to the phone number the landlord used.
  2. Enter the code, your name and a passwordUse your name as it appears on your NIN slip.
  3. You're inThe job is waiting in My Jobs.

Verifying your NIN

Before you accept your first job, verify your NIN once. You're going into people's homes — tenants need to know who is coming. Enter your first name, last name and NIN exactly as on your NIN slip.

Landlords and tenants then see ✓ NIN verified next to your name. We never store your NIN itself — only a secure record that it was checked.

Doing the job

  1. AcceptYou now see the address (with a map link), the tenant's and landlord's names and phone numbers, and the photos.
  2. Book the visitAgree a day with the tenant, then set it in the job. The tenant gets a text with the date. You can move it later.
  3. Send a quoteEnter the amount and what's included. The landlord approves or declines it; you'll get a text either way.
  4. Tap "I've started work"when you begin, so everyone knows it's in hand.
  5. Use the chatto message the tenant and landlord together, with photos if helpful.

Finishing & redos

When you're done, tap Work is done, add a short note on what you fixed and photos of the finished work. The tenant is asked to confirm it's fixed.

If the tenant says it isn't fixed yet, the job comes back to you with their note and photos, and you get a text. Fix it and mark it done again. Jobs that need redoing are counted on your record — getting it right first time is the best way to keep a strong reputation.

Your ratings

After a job is closed, the tenant and the landlord can each rate you out of 5 stars and leave a comment. Your average, the number of jobs you've completed, and any redone jobs follow you across every landlord on HouzRent. You can read your reviews on your Profile.

Logging in

Go to houzrent.app/artisan/login and use your phone number and password. Forgot your password? Tap Forgot password? and we'll text you a code to set a new one.
