Landlord not on HouzRent?
You can pay your rent through HouzRent even if your landlord hasn't signed up. We hold it safely until they claim it — and give it back if they don't.

How it works
- Tap "Landlord not on HouzRent?"It's next to Top Up on your dashboard.
- Enter your landlord's phone number or emailPlus the property address, type, bedrooms and bathrooms, your agreed rent, the amount you're paying now, and your tenancy dates.
- Pay from your walletThe money leaves your wallet and is held by HouzRent — your landlord can't receive it until they verify who they are.
- We tell your landlordThey get an email and/or text with a link to claim the payment.
- Send them the link yourself tooRight after paying, you can share the claim link on WhatsApp, by SMS, or copy it. It's also under Waiting for your landlord on your Payments tab.
- Your landlord claims itThey verify their NIN, confirm the property and add their bank account. Your tenancy is then set up on HouzRent automatically.
If your landlord doesn't claim it
The claim link lasts 14 days. If your landlord hasn't claimed the payment by then, the full amount is returned to your HouzRent wallet automatically and we email you. You can then pay again or withdraw it to your bank.

If your landlord hasn't opened the link, you can resend our reminder from the Payments tab once a day — or just send them the link again on WhatsApp.
Why it's safe
- Your landlord must verify their NIN before they can receive anything, so the money can't go to a stranger who got hold of the link.
- A payment can only be claimed once. After it's claimed or refunded, the link stops working.
- Everything is recorded in your wallet activity with a reference.
Cashback
From time to time we run campaigns that give tenants cashback into their wallet when they bring their landlord onto HouzRent this way. Each campaign has its own terms — such as a minimum rent amount, a limit on how many times you can earn it, and start and end dates — which we publish when it launches.
