Searching for homes

Open HouzRent Homes. You can browse without an account. Choose a State, then an LGA, and narrow the results by annual budget, bedrooms or property type. Use Area / town for a specific area, such as Lekki Phase 1; enter the area name as the landlord has written it. Sort by newest or by rent.

Each home shows its annual asking rent, caution fee and move-in total. The monthly equivalent helps you compare homes; it does not mean the landlord has agreed to monthly payments. Featured homes appear first within matching search results.

Every fee is in a listing's move-in total up front. Nothing is added later and nothing is paid outside HouzRent.

Location & privacy

A public listing shows its area, LGA and State, and may include a nearby public landmark. Explore this area in Google Maps opens that area in a separate tab. The full street address and exact GPS coordinates are kept off public listings.

To search around where you are, choose a distance and tap Near me. Allow location access in your browser when asked. Results use approximate locations and include only homes with saved GPS coordinates. Your other filters still apply, so try a wider distance or clear an area filter if you see no matches.

If location access is denied or unavailable, use State, LGA and area filters instead. Clear nearby removes the distance filter.

Saved homes & email alerts

• Save a home: tap its heart. Saved homes stay in this browser on this device; clearing browser storage removes them.
• Save a search: sign in and choose Email me new homes like these. HouzRent emails you when a matching home is published. Area and nearby filters are included; a nearby alert keeps the location you chose when you saved it.
• Manage alerts: open your saved searches to pause, restart or delete alerts.

Booking a viewing

1. Open a home and sign inIf the landlord has added times, the listing shows Book a viewing.
2. Choose an available timeTimes are shown in Lagos time. Add an optional note and confirm your booking.
3. Check your bookingYour confirmation contains the full address, the landlord's contact number, a directions link and an option to add the viewing to your calendar. When GPS is saved, directions use those coordinates; otherwise they use the address.
4. Cancel if you cannot attendCancel an upcoming booking from its page so another person can use the slot. The other person is notified if either side cancels.

HouzRent sends viewing reminders. If no viewing times are shown, the landlord has not opened any available slots. You can still make an offer on an available home.

Making & answering offers

1. Choose Make an offerSign in, enter your proposed annual rent, move-in date and payment frequency, and add an optional message. The form shows the permitted rent range.
2. Wait for the landlord's responseThey can accept, decline or propose a different annual rent. Follow the offer from your offers page.
3. Answer a counter-offerAccept it, propose another amount or decline. You can withdraw your own open offer if you change your mind.

An unanswered offer expires 7 days after the latest offer or counter-offer. HouzRent sends a reminder to whoever needs to respond. If another applicant's offer is accepted, other open offers on that home are closed.

Sending an offer does not pay the landlord or reserve the home.

After an offer is accepted

HouzRent creates your tenancy with the agreed annual rent, move-in date and payment frequency, and takes the home off the market. Your accepted offer shows the full address and landlord contact details.
