Landlords

Adding a property

Go to Properties → Add property and enter a name you'll recognise, the address, type (flat, duplex, self-contain and so on), bedrooms, bathrooms, annual rent and caution fee. You can add photos and edit the details at any time.

Each property shows whether it's occupied or vacant, and who the tenant is.

Have a vacant home to advertise? See Listing your property for photos, location privacy, viewings, offers and optional featuring.

Bringing a tenant in

From a vacant property, choose Check in a tenant. Set the check-in date, payment frequency (monthly, quarterly, twice a year or yearly) and lease end date, then either:

  • Send an invite link — by email from HouzRent, or copy it and send it on WhatsApp. The tenant signs up (or logs in) and is added to the property. Links expire after 7 days.
  • Find an existing tenant by the email address they use on HouzRent.
ℹ️
Every tenant on HouzRent has verified their NIN, so you always know exactly who is living in your property.

Rental agreements

  1. Set up your template onceUnder Documents, add your name or business name and your terms. HouzRent fills in each tenancy's details — property, rent, caution fee, dates.
  2. Attach it to a tenancyWhen you check a tenant in, attach the agreement so it's ready for them to sign.
  3. The tenant signs digitallyWith their full name. You both keep a copy you can download at any time.

Receiving & recording rent

  • Paid through HouzRent: rent lands in your wallet the moment your tenant pays, and shows on the tenancy with the period it covers.
  • Paid outside HouzRent (cash or bank transfer): use Log payment on the tenancy to record the amount, date, period and reference, so your records — and your tenant's due date — stay accurate. A receipt is available for every payment.
  • Reminders: your tenants are emailed automatically before rent is due and if it becomes overdue. See the reminder schedule.
  • Withdrawing: move your balance to any verified bank account — see Withdrawing to your bank.

Documents & address records

Each tenancy has a place for documents — for example an ID or guarantor letter your tenant provides — which you can mark as verified.

Address records confirm where a tenant lives. You can send a verified record to the iCheck NIN registry, which builds the tenant's rental history for future landlords and lenders.

Ending a tenancy

  1. Check the tenant outChoose Check out on the tenancy and set the date. The property goes back to vacant.
  2. Settle the caution feeRelease it in full, or raise a claim for damage or unpaid bills. See Caution fees & escrow.
